Government Finance Officers Association returns to Toronto for 110th annual conference

TORONTO, ON -- Thousands of public finance professionals from around Canada and the United States are converging in Toronto for the 110th Annual Conference of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for three days of idea-sharing, skill development, education, and networking. From May 22 to 25, approximately 5,000 people will come together at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) at a meeting that will provide an estimated $14.2 million to the local economy in hospitality spending.

While it has been ten years since the association's conference was last held in Canada, it has been over 30 since being held in Toronto.

This year's conference, "Sharing Solutions and Strategies," is presenting a three-day agenda examining a myriad of industry topics including accounting, auditing, financial reporting, budgeting, capital planning and economic development, debt management, financial management, pension and benefit administration, and treasury and investment management. Additionally, delegates will also have the opportunity to network, view new products, and listen to nationally recognized keynote speakers in the public finance industry.

"On behalf of Toronto, I would like to welcome GFOA back to Canada, and to Toronto," said MTCC President and CEO Barry Smith. "I have no doubt our city will provide a vibrant and exciting backdrop to complement the conference program of education sessions, exhibits, and speakers."
